Guest Speaker: Heather Shnyder of Transitions of PA

Heather Shnyder has been with Transitions since October 2001. As Transitions’ lead educator for Commercial Sexual exploitation of humans, Heather has presented to law enforcement, school districts’ Student Assistance Program members, Public and private school administration, businesses, university staff, community leaders, first responders, inmates, and advocates.

Overall Heather has created five prevention education school curricula complete with videos. She received national recognition when she was presented with the 14th Annual Communicator’s Award for Excellence in the Social Issues category in 2008 for the work she did in helping to create Transitions’ “Internet Safety Program” video and curriculum.
In 2009, Heather was awarded the “Governor’s Victim Services Pathfinder Award” in the category of Prevention Education and Outreach. This award, presented by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, recognized Heather’s outstanding and visible contribution to the victim services movement in Pennsylvania through her work on behalf of crime victims.
