TASTINGS AT TWILIGHT

Second Annual Event To Be Held Sunday, August 22nd

Tastings At Twilight, a celebration of wine, food and crafts was so successful last year; this has become an annual event for Family Services Incorporated. Those attending will enjoy the spectacular view during a summer evening at the Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark on Sunday, August 22nd. The evening will begin with transportation provided from the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum, located at 1300 - 9th Avenue, Altoona.

Those attending Tastings At Twilight will sample wine made throughout Pennsylvania. Other vendors also include cheese makers, chocolatiers, gourmet foods, non-alcoholic beverages and crafts. Live music will be performed throughout the evening by local musicians. Learn from the experts how to pair the right wine with the right dish. Find just the perfect present to give yourself or others. Attendees will not only enjoy samplings, but there will also be items to purchase from vendors that evening.

Sponsors and VIP ticket holders will enjoy a private reception at the Top of the Curve beginning at 3:00 pm. Both Liberty Wine & Spirits and Majestic Wine & Spirits will be sampling an array of wines from all over the globe at this VIP Reception. Local chefs will also serve food prepared with these wines. These limited number of ticket holders will also take part in the Courtyard Samplings.

Courtyard Sampling tickets will grant admission to the Courtyard of the Horseshoe Curve from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Tickets will also be sold at a discounted price to Designated Drivers who will be required to not partake in the wine sampling for the evening.

A silent auction will be held from 4:00 to 6:30 pm featuring donations from the participating vendors and local community businesses. Returning by popular demand is Blast of Grapes, where you purchase a chance to pick a grape to find your prize.

"We wanted to highlight the awareness of the importance of Family Services Incorporated whether it is assisting victims of violent crimes and/or domestic abuse, the homeless, runaway teens, those seeking counseling services or support with a disadvantaged family member," states Vicky Mirenda, event cochairperson. "Our community has depended upon this agency for over 80 years and with decreased government funding sources, dollars raised at Tastings At Twilight is more important than ever.

Sponsorships and Vendor Applications are still available. All proceeds from this event remain in Blair County to assist those who need a helping hand.

Tickets are $65 donation for VIP Reception at the Top of the Curve, $30 donation for Courtyard Samplings and $15 donation for Designated Drivers. No one under 21 years of age will be permitted to attend this event. Photo ID will be required at registration.

All tickets to Tastings At Twilight include a tasting journal to record your favorite labels and a collector tasting glass.
