"When kids volunteer it tells others that they don't have to be perfect or famous or even grown up to make a difference."

At the end of the day on Friday, September 17, these young people from the Second Avenue United Methodist Youth Group were all smiles as they assembled 12 complete baskets for the Welcome Home Basket Project. These baskets, each filled with 17 different items, are given to the individuals and families when they transition from the Emergency Shelter Project to their own home.

Due to a teacher in-service day, these young men and women set up a table outside K-Mart from 1:00 - 7:00 pm. They greeted shoppers with their smiles, passed out brochures and asked for donations.

Special thanks to the parents and advisors for the youth group, K-Mart - Altoona, Asera Care Hos-pice, New Pig Corporation, Domestic Abuse Project, Kathy Mincin and for the many donations from the shoppers at K-Mart that Friday.

Every month, 17 individuals and families are served by The Emergency Shelter Project. If you, your business or organization would like more information about supporting the Welcome Home Bas-ket Project, please email info@familyservicesinc.net.
