Why Counseling?
Life's problems can become so tough and confusing that it is difficult for you and your family to work them out alone. A fresh outlook and a caring professional counselor can help you find the right decisions to help your life make sense. These are some ways that counseling may improve your life:
  • If you feel lonely, confused, depressed, or anxious
  • If you or others in your family have been victims of physical, emotional or sexual abuse
  • If partners are having problems with their relationships
  • If someone is under stress due to a separation or divorce
  • If you are a single parent facing the emotional and/or economic stress of raising children
  • If a child, adolescent, or adult in your family is having trouble with the law
  • If you or someone in your family has been affected by substance abuse
  • If you are under stress due to a layoff or chronic unemployment
  • If children and parents are note getting along
  • If children are showing behavioral and learning problems in school

What Services are Provided? Family Services provides counseling service for individuals, families, partners, and groups. Both group and individual sessions are provided. Children 14 and older may request services without the consent of their parents. We may also refer you to other community services that can help. Our goal is to aid with problem resolving, decision-making, communication, and managing your life.

What is Our Confidentiality Policy? We do not provide information to anyone without written consent. All services are strictly confidential as outlined in our agency Confidentiality Policy. As require by this policy, we must report all cases of suspected child abuse to Childline, the 24-hour Department of Public Welfare hotline.

Who Does the Counseling? Trained professionals who have master's degrees in social work or related fields provide these services.

What Does It Cost? Family Serivces receives payment for our counseling program through insurance company payments, funding through the Univeted Way of Balir County, special private and government arrangements, and tax-deductible donations. Your fee will be based on the actual cost of services and your ability to pay. We will look at your family size and income to determine your fee.

Who Sponsors This Program? This counseling program is sponsored by Family Services, a private, nonprofit agency under the direction of a volunteer board of directors. We have served the people of Balir County for more than 75 years.
